Physician credentialing services

Physician credentialing services enroll a clinician with the payers the practice will bill. The work is applications, follow-up, and approval. It is not the clinical chart, and it is not a promise that every payer will say yes. This is general planning information, not legal advice.
Vye manages licensing, credentialing, malpractice insurance, and your website, and payer contracts if you want them.
What is physician credentialing?
It is the check a health plan does before it will pay you. The plan confirms your license, training, and identity, then adds you to its records. You cannot see an insured patient under that plan until the plan has finished. Cash-pay patients are a different path, covered in the cash-pay guide. If you will bill insurance, credentialing sits on the critical path.
A National Provider Identifier is part of the paperwork payers expect. CMS publishes the National Provider Identifier standard. Get the identifier in motion early. It does not, by itself, mean a plan has credentialed you.
How long does credentialing take with Vye?
Credentialing usually takes a few weeks. You can set up your practice and website while it's in progress. That is Vye's timeline for the credentialing it runs. Another plan, or a case with missing documents, can take longer. Do not book insured patients on a date that assumes a particular plan has already approved you.
To launch on VyeOS, you sign up, verify your identity and license, and complete credentialing. You see patients once credentialing clears.
What can you do while you wait?
Use the waiting weeks for work that does not require a payer's yes:
- Finish the startup cost plan and the private-practice launch sequence.
- Write the service map for the practice type you will open. The medical practice launch page puts that choice in order.
- Set up the chart you will use on day one. Vye Core is an EHR and practice platform: scheduling, charting, telehealth, a patient app and billing in one place, with Vye Orders included.
- Decide whether the first patients are cash-pay, insured, or a mix. Vye bills insurance for your practice.
Vye runs bookings, billing, coding, denials, and compliance. Billing starts after you are credentialed for the plan you will submit to. Coding and denials come after there is a claim.
What does it cost?
Vye charges $0 upfront, and no SaaS or monthly fee. Credentialing through Vye is part of that launch. This page does not quote a fee for any other credentialing company.
